KARAN: WE ARE STRENGTHENING LEGALITY AND LEGITIMACY OF SRPSKA INSTITUTIONS
BANJA LUKA, MARCH 16 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan stated that the legitimacy of the Government headed by Prime Minister Savo Minić has not been questioned at any moment, and that its re-election represents a strengthening of the legality and legitimacy of the Republika Srpska institutions.
"We will confirm this tomorrow; Minić will again be the prime minister. In these crisis moments, as someone said, we are playing this political chess match with the white pieces," Karan told the press in Banja Luka. He expects that he will be in a position as early as tomorrow to propose Minić as prime minister-designate and that the Government will continue its work. "We do not want our Government to carry any burden from those who are against Republika Srpska and who question its legality," Karan said. He emphasized that this is an electoral process to which citizens gave full legitimacy three years ago, which has been manifested through the current and previous governments. The president of Srpska stressed that citizens will not feel at any moment a lack of any constitutional or legal functioning of the Republika Srpska institutions. "This is proof of the institutional and political strength of Republika Srpska that, in such crisis moments, it can create the constitutional framework for all institutions – legislative, executive and judicial authorities," Karan emphasized. He assessed that everything that is happening represents a continuation of attacks on the Republika Srpska institutions, adding that it should not be forgotten that it all started with Christian Schmidt, who nobody and nothing in BiH. "By imposing laws and through his behaviour, Schmidt has destroyed the greatest democratic achievement in the world – the electoral will of the citizens," Karan concluded. Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said today in Banja Luka that he has submitted his resignation and that a new Government of Srpska will be elected. "I consulted with the President of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, who said that he would propose me as the prime minister-designate and that the Government in this composition has support," Minić said.
